Overview

When a drain keeps blocking, the pipe is the problem.

A drain that backs up every few months is not unlucky. Something further down the pipe is holding waste up, and clearing it again only buys time. Measured Plumbing repairs and renews sewer and stormwater drains across inner Melbourne, from a single cracked section under a driveway to a full line replaced from the house to the boundary.

Gurgling from floor wastes or toilets means air moving through a restricted or partly collapsed line. Damp patches, soft ground or a sinkhole in the yard point to water escaping from a broken pipe below. A sewage smell near a gully suggests a break or a cracked riser, and water pooling by the house after rain means a stormwater line that has failed or silted up.

None of this can be confirmed from the surface. A camera run along the line finds the break, its depth and how far it extends, which decides whether a spot repair or a full renewal is the right call. If the line is only obstructed, clearing it is the cheaper option, and we will say so.

Repair and renewal

Drainage repair and renewal services.

The fault is located and its cause understood before anything is dug. Swap out a broken section without asking why it broke and the next failure turns up a metre further along.

Camera inspection first

The line inspected and the fault confirmed by depth and distance before a repair or renewal is recommended.

Sewer line repairs

Cracked, offset or root-damaged sections excavated and replaced in modern PVC, jointed and tested before backfill.

Stormwater drain repairs

Collapsed, disconnected or silted lines reinstated and re-graded so surface water actually leaves the property.

Full drain renewals

A whole run replaced where original earthenware or cast iron has reached the end of its life.

Gullies and inspection points

Broken risers, gullies and access points rebuilt to the correct height and sealed properly.

Fall and grade corrections

Pipework relaid to a proper fall where sections have sagged, dropped or the ground has shifted beneath them.

New drainage installation

Additional lines, connections and pits for extensions, new bathrooms and reworked yards, connected and tested.

Owners corporations

Shared and common drainage lines, with the scope documented so a committee or manager can approve it before work starts.

What's included

What a drainage repair quote covers.

Everything below is set out in the written scope, and anything excluded is stated, so the invoice matches the quote.

  • Camera inspection findings, with the fault located by depth and distance
  • Repair or renewal recommendation, with the reasoning
  • Length and depth of pipe being replaced
  • Access arrangements and site protection
  • Excavation kept to the length required
  • New PVC pipework laid to the correct fall and connected properly
  • Line tested before backfill
  • Backfill and compaction
  • Surface reinstatement, whether lawn, concrete, decking or driveway, priced up front
  • Compliance paperwork where the work requires it
Property types

Property types we repair drainage for.

Where the drain sits and who is responsible for it shapes the job as much as the pipe does.

  • 01

Houses with original earthenware drains, where roots and dropped joints are the usual failures.

  • 02

Apartment blocks and owners corporations, with shared and common lines documented for committee approval.

  • 03

Rental and managed properties, with the scope written up so a property manager can sign it off.

  • 04

Extensions and new bathrooms that need additional lines, connections and pits.

  • 05

Yards, driveways and paved areas, where reinstating the surface is priced into the quote up front.

Inside the property boundary the drain is the owner's responsibility. Beyond it, the line generally belongs to the water authority, and the inspection establishes which side the fault sits on.

What affects the cost

Priced on access and depth.

Drainage pricing comes down to how much pipe is being replaced, how deep it sits and what is on top of it. Lawn, concrete, decking and a driveway are all different jobs. Whether the fault is inside the property boundary or at the water authority's connection also changes the scope.

Reinstating the surface after excavation is a real cost, and it is priced into the quote up front rather than appearing on the invoice. Every drainage job is quoted in writing after the line has been inspected, so the quote reflects what is actually in the ground.

Written before work starts

Scope, inclusions and exclusions, in writing.

Anything outside what was agreed is priced and approved before it proceeds, so no variation lands on an invoice unannounced.
